BNP Paribas has invested in improving the working environment of its employees in the insurance sector (BNP Paribas Cardif) who occupy an office area of approximately 5,000 m2, achieving, thanks to the solutions offered by Quantum, a 70% reduction in electricity consumption for lighting (minus 160 Megawatt/hour per year), a reduction in CO2 emissions (minus 30 tonnes of oil equivalent burned per year), the creation of new “green lungs” (more than 3,000 trees equivalent per year).
Among the “off/on” modes of a normal switch there are infinite shades of energy saving that simply result from a rational use of light: where it is needed, when it is needed and how it is needed. The starting point is the replacement of the old lighting fixtures in use with new LED solutions connected to the Internet, without introducing changes to the wiring of the existing electrical system. Thanks to the use of sensors and application software, it is possible to manage remotely via Internet and adjust the intensity of each single light point dynamically and independently, customizing the intervention according to the size of the spaces, the exposure to natural light, the inclination of the sun rays during the day (but also during the year), the possible cycle of work activities and even the weather forecast.
