Companies working in the food sector must comply with very precise rules: the preparation and serving of food and beverages must take place in environments in which hygiene and safety are respected according to HACCP requirements, eliminating the risks of contamination, starting with the design of the working environments and the choice of equipment used.
In these environments there is often extreme cold to maintain the freshness of food, which causes problems when using traditional lamps, making frequent maintenance necessary and making immediate switching on and off impossible.
LED lighting in the food industry has several strengths:
- These systems do not use glass lamps that can, in case of breakage, contaminate the food;
- When used in refrigerated areas, the total Watt/sqm load of the lighting system is much lower than with traditional, fluorescent or iodide formulas;
- In refrigerated areas, LEDs ensure a high and constant luminous flux without the need for maintenance.
- Light quality: the LED is a precise source that can guarantee a higher colour rendering, more similar to that of the SUN;
- Energy efficiency: systems using these technologies offer efficiency and energy savings of up to 50% compared to conventional ones;
- Longevity: these systems have greater durability and almost zero maintenance. In addition, they do not suffer from dimming like conventional lighting systems, which tend to decline in intensity over the years.
It is therefore evident how important it is to study and analyse the working environment in which we have to interface: the study of the environment and its standards, which must be compulsorily respected, is essential for the success of the project itself and above all for customer satisfaction.
Fruttital Srl (Orsero Group), which operates in the import and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetable products, relied on Quantum to study the best lighting technologies to be used in its environments.
