From 16 to 21 February 2025 M’illumino di Meno returns, the awareness-raising initiative on energy saving and sustainable lifestyles promoted by Rai Radio2. This year the focus is on a crucial issue: the environmental impact of the fashion industry, especially fast fashion.

Fashion and sustainability: a possible combination?

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world, with high consumption of water and energy resources and excessive waste production. Fast fashion, in particular, contributes significantly to this problem.

M’illumino di Meno wants to turn the spotlight on this issue, with the aim of raising consumer awareness and incentivising companies to undertake more sustainable practices.

What does sustainability mean in an industrial context?

It means adopting a circular economy approach, where products are designed to last and to be easily repaired and upgraded. This also applies to lighting!

Indeed, luminaire manufacturers will increasingly be pushed to provide component replacement kits, so that the entire luminaire does not have to be disposed of when a single part fails.

We at Quantum have always been mindful of this logic. Our devices are designed to be durable, with modular and easily replaceable components. This allows us to:

  • Reduce electronic waste by extending the life of the devices;
  • Save resources by avoiding the production of new luminaires;
  • Reduce costs for companies, which do not have to replace the entire lighting system.

Choosing sustainable lighting therefore means making a conscious choice for the environment and the future of our planet.
